About MathTek

The primary mission of the MathTek grant project is to provide the educational means and support to teachers, enabling them to serve as facilitators, helping their students to: value and enjoy mathematics; become confident in their ability to do mathematics; and become active, engaged learners by addressing their individual students’ learning styles.  This is done through the presentation of the eight strands of the Ohio Mathematics Model Curriculum.

The curriculum goals of the MathTek project are that students will:

            •  become problem solvers

            •  learn to communicate mathematically

            •  learn to reason mathematically; and

            •  use technology as a learning tool.

The curriculum lessons are presented in this CD-ROM, the website, and Internet resources.   The objectives of these lessons directly correlate with the Ohio state mandated ability/achievement testing program, specifically the Fourth Grade Proficiency Test.   The curriculum goals will be met through the use of this entire multimedia project.

Grant funding was provided by the Ohio Educational Telecommunications Network and eTech/Ohio.  Additional funding was provided by Bowling Green State University and WBGU-TV.
